An effort to recall four of the seven members of the Glen Lake Community Schools Board of Education in Michigan did not go to a vote in 2022. The Leelanau County Election Commission rejected the recall petitions in a clarity hearing on March 10, 2022, saying the language on the petitions was not clear or factual. The petitions named board President Cory McNitt and members Leah Mosher, Virginia Woessner, and Brooke Hazael-Massieux.[1][2]
The petitions said board members had denied "parental access to school buildings on multiple occasions through school policy," according to the Traverse City Record-Eagle. Interim Superintendent Jason Stowe said that the school district implemented a policy at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic that did not allow parents to enter the school beyond the front foyer.[1]
