Andy Mitchell was a 2016 Democratic candidate for District 63 of the Wisconsin State Assembly. He ran unsuccessfully for the same seat in 2014.

Campaign themes

2014

Mitchell's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[1]

  • Excerpt: "I believe that a state representative should do the work of his constituents and not follow directives of powerful outside interest groups."
  • Excerpt: "I believe that cancer and affordable treatment is a right. A bill to give cancer victims affordable treatment should not have been amended or delayed to sooth the needs of the lobbyist."
  • Excerpt: "I believe that Wisconsin’s rule concerning the ballot design is fair. There is no need to spend tax payers money to recreate the ballots and skirt the standing rule."
  • Excerpt: "I am concerned with the movement towards less protection for citizens by their government. Keep our water, our forests, and our streams protected."
  • Excerpt: "I believe in a decent wage and fair benefits for workers."
  • Excerpt: "I believe that big money has a corrupting influence on our current representative who is a member of the American Legislative Exchange Council. This group has crafted many of our current laws to favor large corporations at the expense of the average American."
  • Excerpt: "I believe in funding education at all levels. I believe that the technical colleges will recreate our shrinking middle class and that they should be affordable. Technical colleges help to retrain returning vets, workers whose company has moved or closed and people who cannot afford a four year college degree. Vocational colleges are the path out of poverty for many."
