Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.

Found not guilty on charges of domestic violence
On August 20, 2019, McLeod was found not guilty on a charge of domestic violence. State House Speaker Philip Gunn (R) requested that the House Ethics Committee conduct its own investigation following the verdict.[5] Gunn said in an interview on February 20, 2020, that the Ethics Committee did not have the power to take action against McLeod since the allegations did not involve a violation of House rules.[6]
McLeod was arrested and charged with misdemeanor domestic violence on May 18, 2019. According to the police report, McLeod was intoxicated and punched his wife in the face. The report alleged that McLeod's wife took shelter with another woman who was living in the house and that McLeod attempted to break the door down. McLeod was released on a $1,000 signature bond.[7]
On May 24, 2019, McLeod and his wife issued public statements in which both criticized reporting surrounding the arrest and expressed their desire for privacy. McLeod's wife said in her statement, "While Doug nor I claim to be perfect, the twisting of information has misrepresented me and the truth. We intend to let the process work as designed, and we refuse to feed into the frenzy that has been initiated by the misleading reporting being done."[8]
