A special primary election for Louisiana House of Representatives District 82 was called for March 20, 2021. A special general election was scheduled for April 24, 2021.[1] The candidate filing deadline was January 27, 2021.
The seat became vacant after the resignation of Charles Henry (R) on January 12, 2021.[2]
Louisiana elections use the majority-vote system. All candidates compete in the same primary, and a candidate can win the election outright by receiving more than 50 percent of the vote. If no candidate does, the top two vote recipients from the primary advance to the general election, regardless of their partisan affiliation.
