Mike Fortner
Mike Fortner is a former Republican member of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing District 49 from 2007 to 2019.
Fortner did not seek re-election to the Illinois House of Representatives in 2018.
Biography
Fortner earned his B.A. in Math and Physics from Carleton College and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Physics from Brandeis University. His professional experience includes working as a Professor at Northern Illinois University and Researcher at Fermilab National Laboratory.[1]

The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was December 2, 2013. Fortner won re-election to the 95th District seat against Democrat Maria Owens. He ran unopposed in the Republican primary on February 2nd. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.[13]

Fortner and his wife, Rebecca, have two children. He is a member of the Education Reform Task Force, Metropolitan Mayors' Caucus, Director of Transportation Policy with the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference and Co-Chair of the STAR Line Commuter Rail Task Force.[1]
