Anne A. McMillion
Anne A. McMillion was a 2013 candidate for District 110 of the Mississippi House of Representatives. Special election candidates in Mississippi run without party labels.[1] McMillion identifies as a democrat.[2]
Biography
McMillion graduated from Moss Point High School in 1995.[3] She then attended Dillard University until 1998, studying business management and marketing.[2] At the time of her candidacy, McMillion was attending Herzing University, pursing a degree in International Studies. Her anticipated date of graduation was December 2014.[3] She also holds a cosmetology license.[2] Her professional experience includes working as a substitute teacher for the Moss Point School District for 13 years.[3]
Campaign themes
2013
McMillion's campaign focused on the following themes:
- Increase business growth
- Improve life skills and training programs
- Create Youth Educational Programs for global growth
- Decrease bullying and suicide
- Implement training and community involvement programs for those with mental health issues
- Provide residential housing
- Decrease the unemployment rate utilizing WIN Job Center
- Develop a historical preservation group[4]
Elections
2013
McMillion ran in the special election for Mississippi House of Representatives District 110. The seat was vacant following Billy Broomfield's (D) election as Mayor of Moss Point. McMillion faced Tyres Autrey, Mitch Ellerby, Aneice R. Liddell and Jeramey Anderson in the special election, which took place on November 5, 2013. She did not garner enough votes to advance to the runoff.[5][1][6][7]
