Clifton Knowles
E. Clifton Knowles was a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee. He was first appointed to this position in 2000 and he retired from the bench in 2016.[1][2]
Education
Judge Knowles graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1973. He then received his law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1977.[1]
Career
After law school, Clifton Knowles began his career as an attorney for the law firm Arnett, Draper & Hagood. He then clerked for U.S. Appellate Judge George Edwards. Prior to his appointment to the U.S. District Court, he was a partner of the firm Bass, Berry & Sims PLC. He has also taught as an adjunct professor at the Vanderbilt University Law School since January of 2001.[1][3]
