Pelikan's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[1]
“ | Today's political sphere is a chaotic scene of excessive polarization and partisan conflict, a scene in which gridlock has torn apart our government and forced voters to choose between two political parties that seem more interested in toeing the party line than in truly representing the values of the voters. As a candidate for Wisconsin's District 60 State Assembly seat, my mission is not to adhere to a party agenda or to tell people what to think; instead, it is my mission is to work with the citizens of District 60 in order to encourage cooperation, evaluation of the issues, and fair, representative compromise.
Cooperation Our state and our nation work best when all citizens come together to find solutions to our issues. When we cooperate, we represent the minds and the voices of all of our citizens, not just Democrats and not just Republicans. Conversation We have the opportunity, as citizens of the United States, to affect our government at nearly every level. With every ballot that we cast, we are affecting the lives of ourselves and of others. This is why it is vital to thoroughly evaluate the issues and the candidates that we vote on so that we can make decisions that truly represent our ideas of government and that ensure the prosperity of our state and nation. Compromise For too long, voters have been forced to choose a side. Every person in District 60 has unique opinions and ideas; it's not fair to categorize every voter into either of two, opposite parties. We won't always agree on every issue, but when we come together as the people of District 60, we have the ability to break down these unfair generalizations and to compromise on issues individually. We can have policies that are conservative and progressive; it's not an oxymoron, it's just the result of fair, representative compromise.[2] |
