Joe Hughes was a 2012 Republican candidate for District 34 of the Alabama House of Representatives.

Special election
Hughes ran in the special election for District 34 of the Alabama House of Representatives. He lost against Bill Burns, Mark Butler, Chris Latta, Jim Murphree and David Standridge in the Republican primary on October 23, 2012.[1]
The seat was vacant following Elwyn Thomas's (R) resignation effective August 31, 2012 in order to become executive director of the Alabama Manufactured Housing Commission.[2][3]
