2016

Puntenney's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Jobs

  • Focusing on expanding job opportunities in clean energy technologies.

Education

  • Focusing on both the economic and staffing needs of our K-12 programs; and how we provide ongoing educational opportunities through our AEA's, 2-4 year colleges without imposing punishing indebtedness to our middle class working and farm families.

Quality of Life

  • The Iowa Constitution states that we Iowans have the right to expect clean air to breathe, clean water to drink and an environment conducive to growing crops, families and communities! Somewhere along the way, those priorities seem to have been replaced by profits, profits and even more profits. This is wrong and I intend to fight to restore and maintain the Quality of Life that once was Iowa.

Health Care for All

  • It's a fact. The privatization of Iowa's Medicaid programs is a disaster. And the arbitrary closing of the State's Mental Health facilities has only compounded the problem by putting thousands of families at risk. There's no excuse for a rationale that is based on putting dollars over the well being of Iowans in need of medical care. I will fight to reverse this travesty.

Veterans Rights & Care

  • As a disabled combat veteran, I know all too well the sacrifices made by our men and women in uniform; as well as the apparent indifference to their mental and physical issues they often receive after returning home. This has to change and I will commit to sponsoring the appropriate legislation that will provide our returning Vets the immediate care they so richly deserve. We owe them that.[5]
