Issues
Campaign issues
2014
Neerhof's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[2]
Taxes
- Excerpt: "The problem is not that government taxes too little. The problem is that government spends too much. The policies of our lawmakers are hurting Illinois and driving individuals, businesses and jobs out of the state."
Pensions
- Excerpt: "We must honor the promises that we have made to current retirees. But going forward, we must have genuine pension reform that includes transitioning to a defined contribution program. By doing so, we will take control of the pension funds away from politicians and place it in the hands of individual employees."
Medicaid
- Excerpt: "Illinois’ Medicaid program is unaffordable, poorly managed, and it fails to provide care for those who are truly in need. Medicaid has grown to over 40% of the budget. Illinois “meets” it budget each year by failing to pay its bills, a substantial portion of which are for Medicaid services."
2012
Neerhof's campaign website listed the following issues:[3]
- On Jobs and the Economy
- Excerpt: "Illinois has the potential to be a dominant economic force. We have ample natural resources, large markets, ample money for investment, a large pool of talented workers, and we are geographically positioned as a transportation hub."
- On Healthcare
- Excerpt: "I am proud to be part of the greatest health care system in the world. In the United States, the outcome for heart disease and just about every type of cancer is superior to those of any other country."
