I was raised in Holladay, Utah and my husband, Ron and I raised our 5 children in Murray, Utah. These 2 cities make up the bulk of House District 37, so this district means everything to me!

I've been involved in everything legislature for nearly 20 years as a citizen advocate for the family. The thought that I should run for office one day has been in the back of my mind for years, and . . the time is NOW! It's a little daunting, but I have a passion for the people, the place, the politics and the principles that guide me.

PLEASE SHARE MY INFORMATION with everyone you know in Murray or Holladay!

  • Government never does it better than individuals in the free market. The best thing government can do for all of us is to get out of the way! Americans are creative, energetic, resilient and charitable. WE ARE OUR SUCCESS!
  • Government must remember that EVERY RAISE they give themselves by raising taxes is a DECREASE IN INCOME for every citizen! Even those needing charitable assistance are impacted when working families have less money to share with others!
  • EVERY PERSON has value and potential. Our best efforts are spent trying to help individuals reach that potential. HELP UP is preferred to HAND OUTS! And government CAN and MUST shift their focus!
The Utah Republican Platform is the quintessential list of priorities I am passionate about . .

1. Proper Role of Government - limited by the Constitution!
2. Private Property - every man a KING of his castle!
3. States' Rights - limit federal intrusion starting with Utah's lands!
4. Ethics & Standards - accountability for all public servants!
5. National Security - military readiness & border protections!

Public Protection - a swift & just judicial system!

6. Self Defense - RIGHT TO LIFE = right to defend life!
7. Freedom of Religion - religion defines us very personal ways!
8. Family Values - the nuclear family is the way to preserve our future!
9. Right to Life - life at ALL STAGES is SACRED!
10. Human Services - let resources go to CHARITIES, not TAXES!
11. Heritage - CELEBRATE diverse heritage while CELEBRATING community!
12. Equal Rights - apply the law equally while recognizing the distinctions of men & women.
13. Education - give parents the power to guide education!
14. Taxation - reduce tax burdens & promote charities!
15. Regulation - let business flourish by getting government out of the way!
16. Economic Development - create new avenues for training & business development!
17. Environment - we are ALL stewards of the planet!
18. Jury - a jury is the ultimate protection against tyranny!
19. Immigration - protect borders & enforce strict policies!

20. State Sovereignty - to protect us from federal tyranny!
Ronald Reagan for his statesmanship, Mike Lee for his unwaivering principles, Susan Duckworth for the gentle grace she offers across the aisle, Stan Ellsworth for his passion for history, Lindsey Stirling for her quest for excellence, and Kurt Cameron for his dedication to wife, family and faith!

Organization
Legislative relationships from years of advocacy during legislative sessions
Knowledge of the legislative process
Ability to strategize

Ability to understand legal code how to write legislation or amend code to accomplish policy changes
The assassination and subsequent funeral of JFK. I was only 5 years old, but the attention to the constant news coverage followed by the widely watched funeral brought regular life to a standstill, even for a tiny kid like me.
Maid service to private households while in High School
The Patriot's Handbook (Grant) because it is an amazing resource for foundational documents and records giving a wonderful sense of the caliber of patriots who participated in the founding of the nation.
Iron Man because he is a super hero, not because of great strength or super-natural causes, but just because of his superior intellect, creativity and ability to think past current norms!
The state house is closer to the people because their terms are shorter . . Their voters reevaluate their service more often so they are not as distant.
When a new legislator has no experience to draw on, there is a learning curve which is detrimental to their effectiveness. This is pretty critical for a Representative who is elected for a short 2 year term.
Funding the appetite to provide more government services to more people.

Preserving the rights of the majority of Utahns who want to protect traditional values.
The governor should NOT insert himself into the legislative process. He shouldn't be commenting on legislation until it comes to his desk for Executive action. At that point, he can sign or veto, but he should never try to influence how legislators will vote.
Since Utah has a short 7 week session, it's especially important to have relationships with other legislators for support each other's efforts by co-sponsoring legislation, helping to educate the rest of the body on the necessity or wisdom of passing the legislation, etc,
