Verona is a dedicated advocate and first-generation American committed to positively impacting through compassionate public service and determined action. Verona's parents inspired her with a strong work ethic and a commitment to community service. In 2009, responding to a devastating tsunami in Samoa, Verona became a community organizer, setting the stage for a lifetime of advocacy and service.
  • As a successful small business owner, operating both Sagato Bakery & Cafe in Midvale and Renew Wellness & Recovery in Herriman, Verona brings firsthand experience in navigating challenges and fostering economic growth.
  • As a community advocate and organizer Verona will continue to work side by side with the community to ensure that the values of our families and neighbors are represented at the legislature.
  • Verona's candidacy is centered on compassion, determination, and an authentic connection with the community. She believes in translating empathy into tangible results, advocating for economic opportunity, sensible gun laws, and accessible healthcare. Verona is not just a candidate; she is a tireless advocate ready to transform her community through genuine leadership and impactful change.
I'm passionate about several key areas of public policy: Education, economic mobility, mental health & substance use addiction, housing, sensible gun safety, small business, and affordable health care. These are crucial pillars for building a thriving and equitable society.
An elected official must embody a profound dedication to serving the people they represent. Central to this commitment is a genuine love and care for individuals' well-being and growth. This entails prioritizing the needs of the community above personal interests, demonstrating empathy, and actively listening to constituents' concerns. Transparency, integrity, and accountability are essential principles that underpin effective governance. Upholding these values fosters trust and fosters meaningful engagement between elected officials and the public. Furthermore, a commitment to inclusivity and diversity ensures that all voices are heard and represented in the decision-making process. Ultimately, elected officials must embody a servant leadership mentality, striving tirelessly to advance the common good and enhance the quality of life for all members of society.
Ultimately, the core responsibility of an elected official is to serve as a dedicated steward of the people and communities they represent, working tirelessly to create positive change and improve the lives of those they serve.
As an 11-year-old in California during the LA riots, the events unfolding around me left an indelible mark on my young mind. Witnessing the unjust treatment and brutality inflicted upon another person by those meant to protect us was a stark awakening. I didn't realize it at the time but that moment shifted my perspective profoundly and ignited within me a deep-seated desire to advocate for justice and fairness. Experiences like this and others stirred in me a sense of empathy and a commitment to serving others. I am passionate about ensuring that every individual is treated with dignity and compassion. I feel compelled to be a catalyst for positive change, dedicated to fostering equity, compassion, and tangible results in my efforts to contribute to a better world.

Scorecards

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
