Runoffs for primaries with top vote-getters receiving less than 40% of the vote were held on July 17.
According to the New York Times race ratings in October 2012, four of the 13 districts were considered to be in play. Those were the 7th, 8th, 11th and 13th districts.[2]
The Center for Voting and Democracy (Fairvote) projected that Democrats would win three districts while Republicans would win 10 seats.[3] Democrats won four of the 13 U.S. House seats -- despite winning the overall statewide popular vote in U.S. House races.[4]
