William Thigpen was a Democratic member of the Alabama House of Representatives, representing the 16th District from 1998 to 2010.

Thigpen's professional experience includes working as an insurance Agent for Thigpen Insurance and owning Thigpen Ford Mercury from 1994 to 2002. He served as a Major in the Alabama Air Reserve and National Guard from 1958 to 1986.

Thigpen is the former President of Fayette County Chamber of Commerce and was co-founder of the L.E.A.F. Program.[1]

Issue positions

Thigpen's answers to the Alabama State Legislative Election 2006 National Political Awareness Test are provided. The test informs voters how a candidate would vote on the issues if elected. He did not provide an answer when asked his top legislative priorities.[2]

Thigpen lost his re-election bid to the 16th District seat in 2010. He had no primary opposition. Daniel H. Boman defeated him in the November 2 general election.[3]

On November 7, 2006, Thigpen was re-elected to the 16th District Seat in the Alabama House of Representatives, running unopposed in the general election.[4]

Thigpen raised $66,938 for his campaign.[5]
