Seth Hammett was a Democratic member of the Alabama House of Representatives, representing District 92 from 1978 to 2010. He served as Speaker of the House from 2001 to 2010.

Hammett's professional experience includes working as the Director of Economic Development for both the Alabama Electric Cooperative and PowerSouth and President Emeritus at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College.

Hammett is on the Executive Committee of a number of organizations, including the Council of State Governments, National Conference of State Legislatures, National Speakers Conference and the Southern Legislative Conference. He is also Chair of the Andalusia Historical Preservation Authority and Andalusia Industrial Development Board.[1]

Issue positions

Hammett did not provide answers to the Alabama State Legislative Election 2006 National Political Awareness Test. The test informs voters how a candidate would vote on the issues if elected.[2]

On November 7, 2006, Hammett was re-elected to the 92nd District Seat in the Alabama House of Representatives, defeating opponent William E. Blocker (R).[3]

Hammett raised $106,009 for his campaign, while Blocker raised $15,548.[4]
