I look up to my mother Vivian. My mother was a single parent and she raised my sister and I by providing a stable household, good education, family love and support. We had a good childhood and life. My mother worked hard, she was also able to send me to college to earn my degree in Sociology.
Integrity: Elected officials should possess honesty, transparency, and a commitment to ethical behavior in all aspects of their work. Integrity builds trust with constituents and ensures accountability in decision-making processes.

Leadership: Effective leadership involves the ability to inspire, motivate, and guide others toward common goals and shared values. Elected officials should demonstrate vision, strategic thinking, and the capacity to navigate complex challenges.

Accountability: Elected officials must be accountable to the people they represent. This includes being responsive to constituents' needs, honoring commitments, and accepting responsibility for actions and decisions made while in office.

Empathy and Compassion: Understanding the diverse needs and perspectives of constituents requires empathy and compassion. Elected officials should actively listen to the concerns of their constituents and advocate for policies that promote justice, fairness, and equality for all.
Community Driven - my qualities to meet people where they are, listen to others, work together to find a solution by joining the team to create success. I believe it is so necessary to be kind, have empathy, compassion as well as charity in your heart for others.
Commitment to Public Service: Serving in elected office is a privilege and a responsibility. Elected officials should prioritize the public interest above personal or partisan agendas, demonstrate a genuine dedication to improving the well-being of their constituents, and uphold the principles of democracy and civic engagement.

By embodying these characteristics and principles, elected officials can effectively represent the interests of their constituents, uphold democratic values, and contribute to positive social and political change within their communities and beyond.
That all our children regardless of their social status, financial status, educational status are treated fairly and live a good, safe, and happy childhood.
My very first job at the age of 16 years old was working as a cashier at Winn Dixie grocery store, and eventually becoming a customer service clerk, which taught me a lot of how to treat people, be a good listener, and assist with providing service to others. I continued working for Winn Dixie through high school and while in college. I worked at Winn Dixie from 1987-1997.
I believe the person holding the office for NC Senate District 30 should have experience in community knowledge and the ability to work for their fellow constituents to help make life better for the district they are representing as well as the entire state of NC.

Previous experience in government or politics can sometimes cause complacency in the job that needs to be done. Career politicians can sometimes lose the reason and their passion which first lead them to the position, because they begin to become comfortable and only concerned with winning the seat, only to not provide the service that they once felt was important for their communities, county, and state.

I am a true believer that a "fresh set of eyes" is always a good thing.
For a North Carolina State Senator, possessing a diverse set of skills and expertise is essential to effectively represent constituents and navigate the complexities of legislative duties. One of the most important skills to possess is Commitment to Public Service. Serving in elected office is a privilege and a responsibility. Elected officials should prioritize the public interest above personal or partisan agendas, demonstrate a genuine dedication to improving the well-being of their constituents, and uphold the principles of democracy and civic engagement. Another important and much needed skill is Collaboration and Consensus-Building. Working collaboratively with others, including colleagues, community leaders, and experts, is crucial for achieving meaningful progress on complex issues. Elected officials should seek common ground, bridge divides, and forge consensus-based solutions that benefit the greater good. I feel that a very helpful skill is having Communication Skills. Effective communication is essential for conveying ideas, building relationships, and fostering transparency. Elected officials should be adept at listening to diverse viewpoints, articulating their own positions clearly, and engaging in constructive dialogue with constituents, colleagues, and stakeholders.
