1) Institute a public option to buy into Medicaid.

2) Fully fund our public schools.

3) Bring broadband expansion to underserved rural areas.
I am passionate about education due to the confirmation of Betsy DeVos as Secretary of Education and the severe negative consequences this has had on education funding. The benefits my bipolar son received from the public school system are in danger of being cut.

My family relies on the ACA and its subsidies for healthcare. Even then the costs can be extremely high. Virginians should not be faced with the choice of bankruptcy or death when they are affected by a serious illness. We should not have to pay huge premiums and large copays on top of that. Healthcare coverage should not cost as much as mortgage payment, and that is why I support a public option to buy into Medicaid.

Rural communities such as mine need quality internet access. Home owners, schoolchildren and small businesses need it. We should not be forced to pay huge prices for 20th century internet in the rapidly changing 21st century. Poor internet also affects home sales, and stagnates economic growth. Corporate ISP's are not solving this problem because they see no profits, and state funding needs to be raised to correct this issue.

The Environment belongs to all of us and we must ensure it is protected for our children and future generations. I think it is a severe injustice to take public and private lands for environmentally damaging projects such as the Atlantic Coast Pipeline. Our property should not be taken so that corporations can reap billions in profit.
My role model is my mother. From her I learned respect and how to treat all people with compassion. She was always there for me when I needed her, and I try to do the same for my friends, my family, and my community. We did not always agree but we respected each other and our opinions. I believe these lessons are paramount in finding a path froward from the politics of division that we encounter today.
The book that had the largest impact of my life is " All the Presidents Men" by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein. Watergate was a pivotal moment in history, the power of truth brought a corrupt administration down. It reinforced to me how important the 1st Amendment is in our democracy.
I believe that empathy and ethical decision making are the most important aspects of an elected official. If you cannot listen to your constituents and put yourself in their shoes you will not serve them to the best of your ability. When casting votes in the general assembly it is important to consider the ethics of the bills and ensure that justice is being brought to everyone by your actions and your votes.
I have been a yoga teacher for a significant portion of my life. For the last 20 years I have helped thousands of people to lead happier and healthier lives through practicing Yoga. I will bring that same devotion to health and happiness for my constituents to the General Assembly.
Vote in the best interests of the citizens of my district and of Virginia. One should not be voting in the interest of corporate lobbying and special interest groups who push for harmful legislation.
I want to leave a legacy of service and dedication to my constituents and the state of Virginia. I want to be remembered as someone who truly cared about the struggles of their citizens, and paved a way for future leaders to do the same.
Halloween is my favorite holiday. I loved the ability to wear costumes and the beauty of fall. I also have many fond memories of trick or treating with my friends.
A painting that my older son did in 3rd grade. It hangs in my home office.
Virginia's greatest challenge is to break the chains of ideological politics, and instead respond quickly and effectively to the challenges that face our citizens everyday.
I support an independent commission to handle redistricting. I also support creating a rigid statutory guideline for duties and powers of this commission.
There are many committees I would love to be on. Especially that of Agriculture, Conservation and Natural Resources; Education and Health; as well as Rehabilitation and Social Services.
One constituent told me of a tragic car accident at a particular intersection in Greene County. Her neighbor passed away in this accident due to a lack of traffic lights at this busy intersection. I am saddened that our current leadership has made no efforts to fix this road hazard even after the tragic loss of human life.
