Clay Athey is a former Republican member of the Virginia House of Delegates, representing District 18 from 2002 to 2012.

Prior to his election to the House, Athey served as Mayor of Front Royal from 2000-2002 and on the Front Royal Town Council from 1996-2000.[1]

Committee assignments

2010-2012 committees:

  • HB 1777 Common interest communities; eliminates assessment against and limit enforcement authority of Board.
  • HB 1779 Retail Sales and Use Tax; exemption of sales by nonprofit entities.
  • HB 2327 Community College Scholarship Match Program; created.[2]

Athey did not seek re-election in 2011. His residency was changed from district 18 to district 29 after the 2011 redistricting process.

2009

In 2009, Athey was re-elected to the Virginia House of Delegates. He defeated Todd Jack in the General Election.[3]
