Biography
Ronald Smith was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Smith served in the United States Navy from November 1978 to November 1999. He earned an undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University in 1977. He earned graduate degrees from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1998 and from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2006.[1]
Smith's career experience includes working as a naval officer, as an executive, and as a senior advisor. His professional credentials include an NC High Principal Certificate and U.S. Navy subspecialty codes in operational logistics and naval mechanical engineering. Smith has served as a member with the U.S. Naval Institute and with the Military Officers Association of America.[1]

|After his retirement from the Navy, Ron worked for the Department of Defense on operations in Afghanistan, Africa, and the Arabian Peninsula. He also found the time to coach all three of his children from recreation league soccer through high school football and lacrosse. These days, Ron works as a Senior Advisor in the critical infrastructure and development sector. Much of this work has been in developing countries. He has extensive experience in international and domestic business, security affairs, and diplomatic negotiations.

My first career job was as a Navy Officer. I served for 21 years as a Surface Warfare Officer (SWO) and directed operational logistics .
Poor boy works hard, makes good, reinvents himself, falls for a rich girl, she breaks his heart, they find temporary romance, and she is the ultimate cause of his death. What a lesson to be learned in a great American Novel.
The Senate has 50 members. Though its members represent districts that are larger than those of their colleagues in the House, its prerogatives and powers are no greater, other than (since 2017) the power to advise and consent to the Governor's Cabinet nominees. The House has 120 members.
