- Every person deserves a world-class education from pre-K to college. However, public schools reliant on local property taxes lead to disparities between districts that are more fortunate than others. Diverting funds from public schools has worsened resource shortages, especially in districts already struggling with budget issues and potential school closures. Particularly harmful to students needing aid, accommodations, and support services, this inequity not only threatens the future success of our students but also puts a strain on municipal budgets, resulting in other services being sacrificed. We must reform the funding system to ensure consistent resource availability across all schools, regardless of location or socioeconomic status.
- As a rural homeowner reliant on a well, contamination from forever chemicals is a genuine concern. I am committed to working with the DNR to support residents and farms in securing necessary infrastructure upgrades to prevent, detect, and mitigate pollution. First, we need incentives to install advanced water filtration systems to remove PFAS compounds from groundwater. Additionally, statewide monitoring wells can detect problems early. Then, Wisconsin legislators must approve emergency plans to respond to contamination in municipal supplies and private wells, including access to backup water supply systems, such as verified PFAS-free municipal sources, until impurities are removed.
- Smart cities are the future and a rural address shouldn’t exclude anyone from the benefits of modern utilities. With the current budget surplus and the expected increase in tax revenues currently in place, we are in a position to decrease the tax burden on the middle class while also improving the quality of life in our state. I am committed to making smart investments in high-speed internet infrastructure and will advocate for all communities in District 4 to secure fiber-optic cables and wireless towers to improve education, business, and daily life.
The fall of the Berlin Wall was not just a significant historical event, marking the first time in 28 years that people could freely pass, it was a pivotal moment in my life that shaped my understanding of freedom, resilience, and the importance of standing together. For my family, this experience serves as a constant reminder of the triumph of the human spirit and the power of community in overcoming barriers, and years from now, my children’s children will hold a piece of the Berlin Wall in their hands as I tell the story that was once told to me.
