The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 20, 2014. Incumbent Mark Wheatley was unopposed in the Democratic convention. Eileen Lentz was unopposed in the Republican convention. Chelsea Travis ran as a Libertarian. John Schoppe ran as an Independent American candidate but withdrew before the general election. Wheatley defeated Lentz and Travis in the general election.[1]
