Eve V. Belfance was a judge on the Ninth District Court of Appeals in Ohio. She was elected to the court on November 4, 2008, and assumed office on February 9, 2009.[1][2] Belfance was defeated in her bid for re-election in 2014, and stepped down when her term ended on February 8, 2015.[3]

General: She was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 46.3 percent of the vote. She competed against Julie A. Schafer. [3] 

Education

Belfance received her undergraduate degree from Yale University in 1984 and her J.D. from the Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 1990.[4]

Career

Belfance began her legal career with the firm of Calfee, Halter & Griswold. She then joined the firm of Kathryn A. Belfance & Associates, specializing in appellate law. In 1998, Belfance moved to Washington, D.C. when she was appointed a federal judicial attorney. In 2005, she was elected to the Akron Municipal Court, where she presided over various kinds of cases and over the DUI court. Belfance served on this court until her election to the Ninth District Court of Appeals in 2008.[4]
