Gale Miller
Gale T. Miller was a judge on the Colorado Court of Appeals. He was appointed by Democratic Governor Bill Ritter on August 22, 2008, and sworn in on January 13, 2009.[1] Miller was retained in 2012. His eight-year term was set to expire in January 2021.[2]
Miller announced in October 2016 his retirement on January 16, 2017.[3] Craig R. Welling was appointed by Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper to succeed Miller.
Education
Miller received his bachelor's degree from Augustana College in 1968 and his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1971.[1]
Career
Miller was a trial attorney for the Federal Trade Commission from 1971 to 1973. He joined the law firm of Davis Graham & Stubbs in 1973 and became a partner in 1978. He practiced commercial litigation with the firm until his judicial appointment in 2008. He was the firm's managing partner from 1998 to 2001.[1]

Judicial performance evaluation
The Colorado Commission on Judicial Performance evaluates judges based on the following criteria: integrity, legal knowledge, communication skills, judicial temperament and administrative performance.[5] Miller was recommended for retention by a 10-0 vote. [6]
