Craig Welling is a judge of the Colorado Court of Appeals. He assumed office on January 16, 2017. His current term ends on January 9, 2029.
Welling ran for re-election for judge of the Colorado Court of Appeals. He won in the retention election on November 3, 2020.
Welling was appointed to the court at the end of December 2016 by Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper to succeed retired Judge Gale Miller.[1]
Welling was previously a judge in the Colorado 17th Judicial District. He was appointed to that court by Democratic Gov. Bill Ritter for a term that began in January 2011.[2]
Education
Welling received his undergraduate degree from Colorado State University in 1995, his master's degree from Penn State University in 2001, and his J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School in 2001.[2]
Career
From 2007 until his appointment to the bench in 2011, Welling served as chief legal counsel for the administration of Governor Bill Ritter. Prior to that, he was an attorney in private practice.[2]
