Special election
A special election for the position of Massachusetts State Senate First Suffolk and Middlesex District was called for May 10. A primary election took place on April 12. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 8, 2016.[5]
The seat was vacant following Anthony Petruccelli's (D) resignation on January 21, 2016.[6]
Joseph Boncore defeated Lydia Marie Edwards, Diana Hwang, Jay Livingstone, Steven Morabito, Dan Rizzo, and Paul Rogers in the Democratic primary.[7][8][9] Boncore was unopposed in the special election.
2014
Elections for the Massachusetts House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election was held on September 9, 2014, and a general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 3, 2014. Incumbent Jay Livingstone was unopposed in the Democratic primary and was unopposed in the general election.[10]
2013
Livingstone won election in a special election for Massachusetts House of Representatives 8th Suffolk District on June 25, 2013. The seat was vacant following Martha Walz's (D) resignation to head the Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts.[11] Livingstone defeated Joshua L. Dawson in the Democratic primary on May 28 and was unopposed in the special election, which took place on June 25.[12][13][14][15]
