Campaign themes
2014
Davis' website highlighted the following campaign themes:[1]
State Nullification
- Excerpt: "As the feds continue to legislate and order away our basic rights, we have the moral obligation both as individuals and as a state to stand up to them and nullify the authority they believe they have by negating their decrees."
Education
- Excerpt: "Students these days have more distractions now than ever before. The trick to ensuring their academic success is to encourage them in the areas they show interest in. This may mean that our current teacher certification system needs to be changed to allow experts in a specific subject to teach students, even if they have not graduated with a teacher's certificate."
Taxes
- Excerpt: "Though philosophically I stand against all taxes, I understand that practically speaking, such a proposal to wipe away all taxes would be unlikely to succeed. This is why I tend to support measures that do away with all previously listed taxes and instead institute a set level of consumption tax."
Jury Nullification
- Excerpt: "The jury has the power to stop the government from punishing someone for something that should not be punishable. I would submit a bill that would require the jury to be informed of their right to jury nullification."
Cannabis
- Excerpt: "I completely understand the risks and the benefits of cannabis. I think the reason why this side of the state is so adamantly against it is because there is a gross misrepresentation of marijuana in the media and so many people, especially older generations, have been doused with that their entire lives."
Elections
2014
Elections for the Colorado House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on June 24, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 31, 2014. Willett defeated Webb, Kyle Davis (L) and James Fletcher (I) in the general election.[2][3][4][5]
