I am a senior in high school running in the 51st District for West Virginia's House of Delegates. Being a member of the youngest generation, I believe that I can offer a unique and much needed alternative perspective on the issues that face my state and community. I believe firmly that it is time to ignite the fire within each of the smallest minorities, the individuals, to create and execute important and effective solutions for my state and my community
  • Just because you are young, it does not mean that you cannot get involved in public service.
  • Maintaining the rights of the smallest minority, the individual, is more important than maintaining the rights of a collective group.
  • People deserve to keep the money they earn through working and not give it away through taxes.
I believe that more opportunities should be given for high school students to get involved in local and state politics through legislative internships because of my belief that it encourages young people to stay in the state. If we do not get the youth involved, we will not be able to enact the effective and valuable changes that West Virginia desperately needs.
I look up to people like Saira Blair, Caleb Hanna, and Joshua Higginbotham. Seeing them run for office and win at a young age inspired me.
The core responsibility of any office is to defend the rights of their constituents against anyone who wishes to infringe upon or strip those rights from them, that includes big government entities and other constituents. Aside from that, the core responsibilities are keeping up to date about state affairs, reading and voting on bills, and constituency outreach.
I would like to be known as an expander and defender of liberties. If I am able to defend the rights of the people at the highest levels, it would be an extreme honour.
When I was 14, I got hit by a car on my bike while turning int my driveway. I consider myself both lucky and blessed to be alive today.
My first job was a courtesy and utility clerk at Kroger's, I bagged groceries and got carts. I still hold that job today.
The House is closer to the wants and need of the populace than the Senate. The Senate is more prestigious and has some of the brightest minds in the state making decisions to help improve the state.
Yes, while I believe prior experience in politics is beneficial, it should not be an unofficial prerequisite. I personally believe that state legislators
Fixing PEIA and teacher pay is definitely the greatest challenge West Virginia will face over the next decade.
The governor and state legislature should work together to implement effective solutions across the state. However, the legislature should act as a hard check to the governor's actions, directives, and executive orders.
Yes, building relationships with other legislators allows you to get your bills passed more easily and it helps out with personal morale. Having relationships with other legislators helps with networking which is useful in the long run if you wish to run for higher office.
Education, Finance, Judiciary, Small Business and Economic Development
No, I do not believe that the kind of legislator that I want to be can be described by anyone.
