Instilled with a hard work ethic by his parents, Fabian put himself through college and graduated from Jackson State University. After graduating from Jackson State, Fabian matriculated to American Public University, where he received his Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Entrepreneurship. For the last 15 years, Fabian has proudly owned and operated Mississippi United Realty, a Real Estate Firm specializing in making homeownership possible for first-time homebuyers. Mississippi United Realty has become a pillar in the Byram community by offering families homebuyer and financial literacy seminars. Additionally, he has mentored several small business owners in South Jackson and Byram.

As a foster parent, Fabian sees the daily struggle that our children in the foster care system face. With children attending four public schools and having only attended public schools, Fabian understands the need to fully fund education to ensure our children receive the best education possible. Fabian and his family are proud members of Jackson Revival Center Church. Fabian proudly serves as a member of the Gary Road Elementary, Gary Road Intermediate, Byram Middle School, and Terry High School Parent Teacher Organizations.

  • Making Healthcare affordable to prevent the closure of our Rural Hospitals.
  • Fully Funding Education to make sure that our children are receiving an adequate education and are able to compete globally.
  • Economic Development: Ensuring that business friendly legislation is in place to protect our small business owners, and attract other businesses to our state.
Healthcare is one of the public policy areas that I am most passionate about. Being one of the most unhealthiest states, we should have the best healthcare available in the country. For long, the failure to expand Medicaid only affected marginalized communities. However, we are seeing the trickle-down effect as our rural hospitals close, and another 1/3 of our hospitals threaten closure within the next year. An overwhelming number of Mississippians favor Medicaid Expansion, but it still has not been done.

Fabian Nelson is a native of Yazoo City, MS, and is a lifelong member of St. Stephens United Methodist Church. He holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Holmes Community College, a Bachelor of Science degree from Jackson State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from American Public University. "As a resident of Mississippi House District 66, I am the owner and managing broker of Mississippi United Realty. I am fortunate to have worked in the community for the past 11 years. In order to effect lasting change, first-time homebuyer education, access to affordable housing advocacy and parity in housing ownership for low-income populations will remain a viable part of my service if elected." Nelson is a member of the National Association of Realtors, the Central Mississippi Association of Realtors where he serves on the Governmental Affairs Committee and within the Mississippi Association of Realtors, Nelson acts as a member of the Professional Standards Committee. "My heart is in this community and I am excited to continue to give back and step up. I am confident that my youth, energy, professional experiences and ability to offer a more grounded representation in the statehouse, looking to issues with a new and practical perspective, will help us prepare District 66 for a vibrant and exciting future. I am prayerful that the people of District 66 will agree and that I can count on their support come September 22, 2020.
Education is the foundation of success- personal success AND success as a community. By investing in our public education system, we are investing in the future of our community with new, innovative minds that will bring jobs to our district. We cannot stop there! We must also invest in higher salaries for teachers, smaller class sizes, additional counseling resources, and a safer learning environment.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Mississippi

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
