Charles Jim Beckett
Charles Jim Beckett (Republican Party) was a member of the Mississippi House of Representatives, representing District 23. He assumed office in 2004. He left office on September 22, 2022.
Beckett (Republican Party) ran for re-election to the Mississippi House of Representatives to represent District 23. He won in the general election on November 5, 2019.
Beckett resigned from the Mississippi House of Representatives after he was appointed as Executive Director for the Mississippi Public Utilities Staff.[1]
Biography
Beckett earned his A.A. from Northwest Community College, B.A. from the University of Mississippi and J.D. from the University of Mississippi Law School. Beckett's professional experience includes working as an attorney for the City of Bruce and in private practice; he previously served as attorney to the Calhoun County School Board from 1992 to 2003.[2]

2015
Elections for the Mississippi House of Representatives took place in 2015. A primary election was held on August 4, 2015. The general election took place on November 3, 2015. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 27, 2015.[3] No Democratic candidates filed for election. Incumbent Jim Beckett was unopposed in the Republican primary. Beckett ran unchallenged in the District 23 general election. Kenneth Ray Winter (D) was removed from the candidate list before the primary.
2011
On November 8, 2011, Beckett won re-election to District 23 of the Mississippi House of Representatives. He ran unopposed in the August 2 primary and defeated Steve Whitten in the November 8 general election.[4][5]

Beckett is married with two children. He has been a member of the Bruce Chamber of Commerce, Bruce Touchdown Club, American Bar Association, Mississippi State Bar Association, Rotary, Calhoun County Bar Association, Mississippi Association of City Attorneys, and the Mississippi Prosecutors Association.[2]
