When I am elected to represent you in Richmond, the days of our being overlooked by career politicians will be over. Throughout my career, I've fought for all Americans, whether as a Head Start teacher, businesswoman, or activist. That won't change when I'm your delegate.

I'm not a career politician. I don't play by their rules. I will be a bipartisan voice of reason who will set partisan politics aside and fight for all Virginians. When I'm delegate, I won't just be representing one "side": I'll be working for all of us in the 33rd District.

My agenda: I will defend and increase the Medicaid expansion so that all Virginians can have access to affordable healthcare; use the existing money that's been provided for broadband expansion to bring broadband to the 33rd District; and provide a real living wage to our teachers, so that we can continue to attract the quality professionals our kids need to help them succeed in a rapidly changing world. Meanwhile, I'll stop giving corporate welfare to already wealthy corporations, and keep them from taking advantage of our tax laws to avoid paying their fair share to the people of our Commonwealth, who, after all, make all their success possible.

  • Increase teacher pay/school funding
  • Bring broadband to rural Virginia
  • Increase funding for addiction/mental health services
In office, I will be a fighter for policies that will help all Virginians create and live the lives they want. I will be a tireless advocate who will fight for the progress we need here without selling out for the overdevelopment that we don't. We can improve our infrastructure and services without compromising the way of life that made so many of us choose our communities in the first place.

2017

Taintor’s campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Economic Success in Virginia
I believe we need to incentivize small businesses. We need to prioritize policy that supports the success of small businesses like our local family farms, brewpubs, construction companies, and boutique stores. We need to be more welcoming to innovative entrepreneurs. Successful businesses require access, both in terms of transportation and in terms of digital and communications services. Providing a universal broadband framework will allow small businesses and small farms to manage their books, market their products, and prosper. Telecommuting increases productivity and allows parents more time at home with their children. Infrastructure upgrades to our roads and highway systems will make it easier for residents and tourists to get to our towns and businesses, as well as making sure commuters are getting home on time to see their families. We can also broaden and diversify our economy by encouraging and promoting more Veteran, Women, and Minority owned businesses, leveraging federal dollars and contracts to help our local businesses grow.

Health Care
The most critical issue we’re facing right now is access to health care. LaRock and the Republicans have time and again shut down any type of Medicaid expansion. Accepting these no string federal dollars would allow 400,000 more Virginians to access health insurance. The fact is that when people don’t have access to coverage, people die. Republican opposition of the Affordable Care Act threatens essential health benefits that Virginians rely on. Coverage for pre-existing conditions and the elimination of lifetime caps means that families in the 33rd District don’t need to worry about losing coverage when they need it most. Republican opposition puts benefits like mental health services and addiction treatment at risk.

Education
In order for us to inspire and empower the next generation to make their own powerful contributions we must make sure our children receive the highest quality education the Commonwealth can deliver. This means ensuring our children’s success by equipping them with good teachers, well-equipped classrooms, and strong schools in healthy communities. We need a voice in Richmond that will make sure our district gets the attention it deserves and sees its fair share of education funding and resources. LaRock has already demonstrated his questionable education priorities by focusing so much of his attention on policies that promote discrimination against students in Virginia. I believe we should be supporting teachers and schools in increasing the quality and access of education for all. In the eastern part of the district, we have a teacher shortage. Development is outgrowing our school system. How can we attract more quality teachers if we just keep cutting funding? The parents and children of the 33rd District deserve to have their Delegate work in their best interest.

Dignity for All
I believe the most foundational responsibility of any elected official is to fairly and honestly represent the best interests of all her constituents. LaRock has spent years wasting political capital, time, resources and taxpayer money on initiatives that seek to marginalize members of our community at the expense of advocating to improve the quality of opportunity for all. I am dedicated to representing the best interests of all those living in the 33rd District, to collaborating effectively with my colleagues in Richmond to provide cost-effective solutions to the issues facing all our residents and to ensuring that we do not undermine the respect and dignity that each one of us deserves.[8]
