Norah King
Norah McCann King was a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. She was first appointed to this position in June of 1982. From 2000 to 2004, she was chief magistrate judge for the district court.[1]
Early life and education
Judge King was born in Steubenville, Ohio, in 1949. She received her B.A. degree from Rosary College in 1971, and her J.D., summa cum laude, Order of the Coif, from Ohio State University College of Law in 1975. She was an editor for The Ohio State Law Journal during her graduate studies.[1]
Career
Judge King began her career in 1975 as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Joseph Kinneary. In 1979, she entered private practice and worked as counsel with the Columbus, Ohio-based firm Frost, King, Freytag and Carpenter until her appointment as a federal magistrate judge. In addition to her duties as a federal magistrate judge, Judge King has taught courses in legal writing, mediation, and trial practice at Ohio State University's Moritz College of Law.[1]
