Campaign themes

2014

Schneider's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[1]

Economic Issues

  • Excerpt: "Charlene Schneider will vote for economic measures that help the majority of Ohio’s families, not just the wealthiest 1%. She will vote to return state funds to local governments and schools, strengthening the core of our communities. Charlene Schneider stands for an equitable tax structure that doesn’t place the burden of balancing the budget on the backs of all but the wealthiest among us."

Jobs/Workers Rights

  • Excerpt: "Charlene Schneider stands for fair practices and fair pay in both private and public work places. Our public servants (teachers, fire fighters, police, etc.) deserve to be respected for the value they add to our community, not demonized. Strong work places build strong communities and bright futures for all of Ohio’s families."

Education

  • Excerpt: "Charlene Schneider believes in quality, public education for all, pre-K through grade 12. Strong communities begin with strong public schools. Educating our children and grandchildren is a gift of love, for them and for ourselves. Providing children with the knowledge and skills they need to make their futures bright and our communities strong, is the best investment we can make."

Women’s Issues

  • Excerpt: "Charlene Schneider is not an advocate of abortion, per se. She is an advocate of giving women and children the best chance at a bright future by addressing all of women’s health issues. This means providing realistic sex education classes, and easy access to birth control and family planning. Cancer screenings and adequate pre and post natal care not only save lives but money as we catch problems early on. Restricting access to abortion will not significantly reduce the number of abortions in Ohio."

Sensible Guns Laws

  • Excerpt: "Charlene wants to reset our conversation away from anger and inaction to one of building a safer world for our kids. Charlene is in favor of strengthening responsible gun legislation, including closing dangerous loopholes in on-line and gun show gun sales, requiring safety training for those seeking permits, and mandating the reporting of lost and stolen guns."
