Louisiana elections use the majority-vote system. All candidates compete in the same primary, and a candidate can win the election outright by receiving more than 50 percent of the vote. I was born and raised in District 10. Most of my life has been in the Springhill area. I have a diversified background of education and experience. My B.S. is in Vocational Agriculture Education from LSU, Baton Rouge. I have a Master of Science in Natural Science from Stephen F. Austin State :University, in Nacogdoches, TX. I also have Principalship certification with more than 40 graduate credits. My educational experience includes thirty years of public school secondary teaching and six years with the Windham School District of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. I am also an ordained minister of the churches of Christ. My ministry has been involved in domestic missions and church leadership. I spent six years in the United States Air Force Reserves, receiving an honorable discharge. My background, training, education, and experience make me uniquely qualified to related to and represent the people of District 10.
  • I understand education. I have lived it and breathed it. Great schools are the key to prosperous communities and successful individuals. It is my desire to see students and teachers survive and thrive in our current environment.
  • Jobs are essential to the well being and life of individuals, families and communities. I have already worked to help students, teachers, and inmates obtain employment. I intended to put forth lots of energy to bring industry to District 10.
  • Criminal justice reform done properly provides hope for all that a quiet and peaceful life can be lived. This reform is tied to obtaining good jobs for felons. It is for the benefit of society and individuals for inmates to be prepared academically and with job skills to renter society. I want to see all kinds of programs both from the state and from non-profit organizations be enhanced in the prison system.
I have a tremendous passion for the fate of the public school system and for our teachers. Louisiana salaries for educators needs to continue to rise. In the mean time the climate of the school can be made less stressful for the teachers as well as for students who are wanting to learn. There are a number of ways that teacher workload can be reduced by the elimination of unnecessary tasks and paper work. I greatly desire to work with teachers and administrators to make Louisiana schools more productive.
