Campaign themes
2016
Miracle's campaign website highlighted the following issues:
“ |
E – Every – As in Every element of the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights! (Period) not just the elements that fit in with the agenda of a particular party. E – Education – We need to ensure that Colorado schools become and maintain at a higher level than they have in the past. We need to ensure that every child has a better opportunity than their parents to learn, succeed and exceed their goals. This means keeping Washington bureaucrats and big government out of our classrooms. We need to be steadfast in opposing Common Core standards and one-size-fits-all curriculums. The career politicians who have created those ideas need to be sent somewhere else. We need to make Colorado Universities, known for quality of life, quality of education, not just great views and great parties. E – Elderly – There is a growing segment of our population becoming senior citizens in this state, and we need to make sure we do our part to take care of the lives of the people who helped us to become adults. They made America and Colorado GREAT; we need to make sure they are taken care of. E – Economy – In order to make and keep our economy strong, we have to be a state with employers of choice, and who have an abundance of employees of choice. Which goes back to the higher education strength that we need to commit to. We need to be supportive of all business, not a government which decides who will and will not survive. Let the market and the consumers determine that. E – Energy – Colorado has an abundance of energy options available, from coal to wind, from fracking to solar. All options need to be researched, all options need to be thoroughly investigated and any efforts that can be made to reduce our dependence on foreign oil should be done. E – Ears – Last but definitely not least, we all need to use our ears more than we have in the past, we need to be patient and understanding, we need to become more knowledgeable. To quote Steven Covey, “We need to seek first to understand, then to be understood!”[1] |
