Campaign themes
2015
Lawler issued the following statement regarding her bid for office:
“ | The subject of voter efficacy fascinated me as a political science student during my time at Virginia Tech. Uncontested elections feed into low participation which fuels the perception that the "political machine" operates without input from the people who are the very source of government power. When I saw that the incumbent was running unopposed again, I decided to run for office. Every election should be contested every cycle and no public position should be essentially granted in perpetuity. My experience is in research management which encompasses budgeting, agreement negotiation, cost compliance, and conflict of interest, all of which have an important role in the functions of a member of Virginia's General Assembly. I have 4 priority areas: Procurement Reform, Agriculture, Conservation/Environment, and Transportation. | ” |
