Cottone was a Constitution Party candidate for District 13 of the New Jersey General Assembly. He was defeated in the November 8 general election. Kevin Lavan and Patrick Short won the June 7 Democratic primary. Amy Handlin and Declan O'Scanlon, Jr. won the Republican primary. William Lawton ran as an independent in the November 8 general election as well.[1]
