Lawton was a Constitution Party candidate for District 13 of the New Jersey General Assembly. He was defeated in the November 8 general election. Kevin Lavan and Patrick Short won the June 7 Democratic primary. Amy Handlin and Declan O'Scanlon, Jr. won the Republican primary. Frank Cottone ran on the Constitution party ticket in the November 8 general election.[1]
