Jim Hughes (Republican Party) was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives, representing District 24. Hughes assumed office on January 1, 2017. Hughes left office on December 31, 2018.

Hughes (Republican Party) ran for election for judge of the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas General Division in Ohio. Hughes lost in the general election on November 6, 2018.

Although Ohio held partisan judicial primaries, general judicial elections were officially nonpartisan.

Hughes also served as a member of the Ohio State Senate, representing District 16 from 2008 to 2016. Hughes previously served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2000 to 2008.

Biography

Hughes earned his B.S. in Transportation and Logistics from Ohio State University and his J.D. from Capital University Law School in 1994. His professional experience includes working as a law clerk, a page in the Ohio House of Representatives, as a bailiff for the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas and as an assistant county prosecutor for the Franklin County Prosecutor's Office.[1]
