Campaign themes

2016

Hart's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

  • Crime & Public Safety: As a military veteran I was trained to protect those who can't protect themselves, which is why I believe in addressing criminal justice with urgency to create a climate where we are able to focus on an aggressive crime prevention plan to reverse the trending high anxiety and fear struck among our residents. We must be ready to attack the problem at the root by holding all community members responsible and accountable to laws in place and to the resources available. I believe an accountability training and support program for parents and guardians will be an innovative route to immediately roll back the increase in juvenile offenders; involved in crimes such as: carjacking, car theft, and vandalism. Although we are striving for better crime prevention and calling for immediate arrests for offenders, I believe we must also be prepared to rehabilitate the good model prisoners as they return back into the community. We must make available quality probation and tracking programs of these returning offenders. In addition, I propose we provide sufficient resources to address mental health issues, reintegration support with children and families, housing, and employment. This ultimately will reverse the pattern of repeat offenders.
  • Education & Child Care: Quality education should be made available to all children. We must provide parents with support and make available the options they have to make a conscious and considerate choice as to where to entrust the future of their children to. I propose a resourceful mentoring and tutoring success tracking program for all of our students from K-5 through High School to ensure an equal opportunity for all of our children to succeed above the standards they must meet. I foresee an increase in graduation rates, behavior issue drops, increased discipline and focus, and a well-equipped scholar of children for securing a great future for Wisconsin.
  • Economic Security & Accessibility of Resources: Our economy in our communities are threaten by the potential of more jobs leaving our state. We must begin to shift the way we do things by identifying the great-minded entrepreneurs that already exist in our very own neighborhoods. We must take matters into our own hands by supporting our small business owners and provide a springboard for new small business owners to launch their ventures. Most individuals dream of working, eating, and shopping where they live. I believe we can make this a reality by making use of our vacant shops and buildings; and harnessing into the action the dream of a thriving community where you can enjoy having everything you need within walking distance; from entertainment to employment. There are a lot of great faith-based organizations and non-profits that have services that can really deliver results for the people. We must create working collaboration among these groups and remove the competitiveness created by the establishment. I propose equal distribution of funding and incentives for organizations that are ready to provide additional resources into the community.[1]
