I am a Chicagoan since 2011 after moving from Los Angeles, CA to attend grad school at DePaul University. I have always been passionate about social issues impacting our world and I believe now is the time that I get involved in Illinois government to make a positive impact in my local community!
  • Repeal the SAFE-T Act and propose a fairer amendment to the criminal justice system that also protects victims
  • Reduce wasteful government spending by opposing bills that ultimately raise taxes
  • Boosting responsible and sustainable economic activity
As a former elementary school teacher, improving the education system in Illinois is vital to ensuring the state fosters an educated and skilled future workforce. According to a recent Wall Street Journal article the state has an overall 36% literacy rate for third grade students. This is an unacceptable rate and even worse for minority students. I believe having a well-educated population fosters innovation, entrepreneurship, and pride in communities. We must change the current dismal education system to empower our children with the skills, confidence, and resources they need to enhance their personal life and their communities. Education is critical to reducing crime, improving mental health, and fostering economic growth.
I've always admired Rosa Parks. She did one simple yet powerful and courageous act that changed the course of American history.
