Hello! I’m Russ Carter, your Republican candidate for state representative. I’m not a politician, I’m a local boy who graduated from Lakewood High school and CCU. I’m a small business owner, a husband and a dad. I’m running on same issues everyone else is – Cost of living, Crime, the environment, and parental choice in education. The difference is that I’ve actually talked to many of you and have heard your concerns. Most of the solutions do NOT involve more legislation. What we need is someone to stand up and take action. And that’s how I’ll represent as your state representative.
Limiting the far reach of government and restoring personal liberties and freedoms--not for some--but for all.
The US Constitution, Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights and the Colorado Constitution.
Honesty, integrity, compassion, ready grasp of complicated issues, boldness sense of humor.
Work well with others and always try to find a common sense solution.
Accountability to the voters, author or support legislation that (1) makes good sense (2) makes good fiscal sense (3) solves the problem and (4) doesn't create new problems.
After 8 years in office I would like to close the door on governmental over-reach that is affecting every area of our lives. This includes lowering property taxes, protecting parental choice of education, protecting police so they can enforce the laws and protect families, and cutting foolish spending to reduce the budget and put more money back into the pockets of Coloradans.
After mowing laws and landscaping for friends of my family, I worked at Octopus Car Wash during the Summer when I was 14.
"To Kill a Mocking Bird." Because Articus defends the rights and liberties of Tom Robinson, who everyone in the town believed was guilty because of his skin color. This story reminds us of how important it is to protect the rights and liberties of every individual, not just a select group of people.
Trying to make a living in a very expensive state.
There should be a proper balance of power so that one branch does not over-power the other.
To eliminate bills that are hurting the economic growth in Colorado and to restore individual liberties and freedoms.
No, everyone has to start fresh. There is great benefit in having a common person serve in government for a few years and then return to civilian life as opposed to a career politician.
Of course, building relationships is an important step for there to be a proper balance between the Democrats and Republicans. There needs to be important input from both sides so that all perspectives are considered. Both parties need to listen to each other and consider different view points.
Yes, because the governor should not have the power to shut business, churches, schools, and other organizations down without the proper checks and balances of the other branches.
Yes, while maintaining the values and issues important to my constituents.
