Steve Dyer
Steve Dyer was a Democratic member of the Ohio House of Representatives. He represented District 43 from 2007 to 2011.
Career
Dyer was a journalist for Akron Beacon Journal and an attorney until 2007.[1][2]
Steve Dyer earned a B.A. in english from Tufts University; an M.A. in journalism from Kent State University; and a J.D. in intellectual property from the University of Akron Law School. He and his wife, Melissa, have one child; Logan.[1][2]
Dyer worked as a staff writer for the Akron Beacon Journal concurrently with his studies, winning two Society of Professional Journalists Awards as well as two Cleveland Press Club Ohio Excellence in Journalism Awards during his time there. He was also nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in 2003.[1] [2]
After leaving the Akron Beacon Journal in 2006, Dyer worked for Summit County Executive as a staff attorney for a year. He then served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011, winning several awards including the 2007 Legislative Leadership Award: Military Order of the Purple Heart, 2009 Homer F. Mincy Award from The Alliance for Adequate School Funding and a 2010 Friend of Public Education Award from the Ohio Federation of Teachers.[1][2]
From September 2013 to February 2014, Dyer worked as an educational policy fellow at Cleveland State University’s Institute for Educational Leadership, and in June 2014, he served as part of a delegation of education policy leaders for the university's Confucius Institute in Shanghai and Beijing.[2]
As of November 2015, Dyer works at Innovation Ohio as an Education Policy Fellow, a position that he's held since 2011. He has also been a senior lecturer at The University of Akron since August 2013.[2]

Dyer was defeated in the November 2 general election by challenger Todd McKenney (R).[3]

On November 4, 2008, Dyer won re-election to the Ohio House of Representatives.[4][5][6] He ran unopposed.
