A lifelong Wisconsinite I was raised to believe that we have a responsibility to look out for each other and to stand up for those that cannot. My years going to Catholic school instilled a strong sense of social justice. As the 7th of 9 children I learned early that if you wanted something extra you had to work for it. I've been working since I was old enough to pick up a snow shovel or push a lawn mower. I believe that working people, the ones that actually create the wealth in this country, have been getting the short end of the stick. In the most powerful and richest country in history of the planet we can do better in rewarding the hard work of the 99%. I served in the Air Force from 1980-1984 and from 1986-2011 was employed by the Department of Corrections. I retired in 2011 as a Probation & Parole Agent. During my years in state service I was active in my union, AFSCME, and fought for worker's rights and better working conditions. It was during this time that my involvement in politics began. I am currently a 2nd term County Board Supervisor in Marathon County.
  • I will support accepting federal money to expand Medicaid and give more Wisconsinites access to healthcare.
  • I believe in non-partisan redistricting and will support establishing a system where no politician chooses their voters.
  • The first and last question I will ask on any issue is "how will this affct the working people in my district".
1. Affordable healthcare

2. Non-partisan redistricting
3. Improving wages for working people
4. Reform the criminal justice system
5. Legalize, regulate, and tax marijuana. Expunge all prior THC possession convictions
6. Fix the roads

7. Provide for affordable broadband access for all Wisconsinites
My mother and father provided a great road map and example of how to live a happy life. They have both passed yet are with me every day. The simple rules were family first and do the right think, even if no one is watching. Do the right thing because it is the right thing.
Article one of the Wisconsin constitution guarantees the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I would add the right to live ones life with dignity. I believe that if all elected officials started and ended their deliberations with the idea of doing what is best for society and the people of Wisconsin we would see a lot less partisanship. A legislator must be honest and available to their constituents.
Honest and straightforward. The ability to grasp ideas quickly and adapt to change.

I hope to make the State of Wisconsin a better place to live.
Shoveling snow and mowing lawns. During my life I have worked in almost every sector of our economy with all types of people. I learned that we all want the same things, but at times we disagree on how to get there.
The Harry Potter series
Spock from Star Trek. His ability to apply logic to any situation would be of great use.
We all have struggles of one type or another. The important thing is to keep moving forward and to learn from difficult times.
Yes I do. Just look at the office of President of the United States. The lack of experience (among other things) has led to a near total breakdown in our system of government.
Recreating unity and open government that actually serves the people. Our current legislature
They should work together to serve the people of Wisconsin. Sadly this is not the case now.
Yes it is beneficial as long as we have the same goal, with that goal being to make Wisconsinites lives better. There should always be discussion and the current legislature does a terrible job at working together.
With my background in corrections and the criminal justice system I would be a good fit in those committees.
Probably Dave Obey. He worked in a bipartisan fashion yet did not suffer fools lightly.
