San Angelo Independent School District is a school district in Texas. The district was the 76th-largest school district in the state in the 2014-2015 school year and served 15,155 students.[1][2]
About the district
The San Angelo Independent School District is located in Tom Green County, Texas. The county seat is San Angelo. Tom Green County was home to an estimated 118,386 residents between 2010 and 2016, according ot the United States Census Bureau.[3] The district was the 76th-largest school district in the state in the 2014-2015 school year and served 15,155 students.[1]
Demographics
Tom Green County underperformed in comparison to Texas as a whole in terms of higher education attainment between 2011 and 2015. The Census Bureau found that 22.1 percent of county residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree, compared to 27.6 percent for all state residents. The median household income in Tom Green County was $46,711, compared to $53,207 statewide. The poverty rate in the county was 15.6 percent, while it was 15.9 percent for the entire state.[3]

The superintendent of San Angelo Independent School District is Carl Dethloff. He was first appointed to the position in July 2015. Dethloff previously served as the district's assistant superintendent of human resources and professional development. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Austin College. Dethloff later received a doctorate from Texas A&M University.[4]
