As a dedicated advocate for the Southwest Virginia community, I bring a wealth of experience and a passion for service to my mission of empowering others. Born and raised in Northern California, I embarked on a remarkable journey at a young age, enlisting in the United States Navy, where I proudly served for 24 years. For 19 of those years, I was a distinguished member of Naval Special Forces, honing my leadership skills and commitment to excellence. After transitioning from military service, I became a certified MRI Technologist and now work at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where I combine my technical expertise with a compassionate approach to patient care. My dedication to healthcare is matched only by my commitment to my family; I have been happily married to my wife, Tracey, for over 29 years and am the proud father of two adult sons. With a unique blend of military discipline, healthcare expertise, and a heartfelt commitment to community service, I am ready to make a lasting impact in Southwest Virginia.
  • Affordable healthcare for all Virginians. I believe that affordable healthcare is not just a privilege but a fundamental right. Every family should have access to quality care without the burden of crippling costs, allowing them to focus on what truly matters—living healthy, fulfilling lives. I pledge to fight to expand Medicaid and strengthen community health centers, so no one in District 39 goes without the medical attention they need, lower prescription drug costs so that our seniors, veterans, and working families can afford their medications and support mental health and substance abuse programs in every neighborhood—because health is holistic, and help should be available without stigma
  • Quality Education. I believe that every child, regardless of zip code, family income, or background deserves an education that prepares them for success, not just survival. Education is essential because it empowers individuals with knowledge, skills, and opportunities to shape their future and contribute to society. Our schools should inspire, empower, and equip our students with the tools they need to thrive in an ever-changing world. That also means investing in our public schools: raising teacher pay so our best and brightest want to stay in the classroom.
  • INFRASTRUCTURE As your legislative leader I promise to take on the utility conglomerates that have tightened their stranglehold on our daily lives. Their decisions ripple through our neighborhoods, inflating bills, limiting choices, and ultimately dictating the terms of our well-being. For far too long, these companies have placed profits above people, creating a system where our essential needs are subject to the whims of corporate greed. I will also fight to ensure that all Virginians have universal, high-speed broadband access, because in today’s world, being offline is being left behind. Remote work, telehealth appointments, online schooling, and small-business growth all depend on it.
Honesty and Integrity. Without these two core values, we cannot represent our fellow citizens. They elect us to best serve them, and become their voice in Richmond.
My first full-time job after High School was serving in the United States Navy. I originally started off as a Nuclear Components Welder, and held that Navy Education Code (NEC) for 6 years. I was stuck in a rut and wanted more leadership opportunities, so I screened and was accepted to attend Special Warfare Combatant-Craft Crewman school and graduated after 6 months of grueling training. I served in the Naval Special Warfare (NSW) community for 19 years ad retired from Active Duty in 2014. My job experience went from my first deployment as a basic crewman culminating to serving as Senior Enlisted Advisor on multiple Intelligence Operation deployments throughout Africa.
