I have been thrilled by the opportunities that have come my way, including playing football in the SEC after being an assistant drum major in the marching band, serving as geologist on an archeological dig for the National Museums of Kenya, playing pro ball in Europe, hiking in the Himalaya, and landing in wonderful Michigan 35 years ago. Taking advantage of offered opportunities allowed me to be a teacher and coach at an exclusive highchool, building curriculum and creating physics exercises and laboratories in the vein of STEM and STEAM. Opportunity presented itself while taking one last shot at football as a graduate student, and then again while serving as a passionate and dedicated faculty council president. And in the best case of opportunity, I got to spend 30 years with an amazing woman and 3 amazing kids, each of whom has had to overcome his or her own challenges and has taught me the importance of family. And now, because of all my past experiences, our current challenging political climate, some interesting redistricting maps, and the encouragement of some key people in my life, I have the opportunity to climb into the political arena.
  • Foster Care is going to be even more overburdened with the overturning of Roe v Wade. We have to take care of these kids.
  • Gun safety keeps rising to the forefront. We have to be more thoughtful in keeping guns out of the hands of dangerous people.
  • So many more, but education needs to be equal and equitable across the state, especially in more vulnerable areas.
Foster care, special education, gun safety, mental health provisions, education that lures in companies and improves workforce.
