Regina Bartholomew Woods
Regina Bartholomew Woods (Democratic Party) was a judge for the 1st District of the Louisiana 4th Circuit Court of Appeal. She assumed office in 2016. She left office on February 4, 2022.
She resigned in February 2022 to work in the private sector.[1]
Woods was previously a judge in the Orleans Parish Judicial District, Louisiana. She was elected to that court in 2011.[2]
Education
Woods earned a B.A. in English, with a minor in political science, from Southern University at New Orleans in 1994. She received her J.D. from Loyola University School of Law, where she ranked in the top 20 percent of the class of 1999. She was admitted to the bar that same year.[3]
Career
After finishing law school, Woods worked as a clerk under Judges Mary Hotard Becnel, Madeline Jasmine, and J. Sterling Snowdy in Louisiana's 40th Judicial District Court. She also served as an attorney for the law firm of Boykin, Ehret & Utley, APLC. Woods also gained experience working as general counsel for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in Charlotte, North Carolina; as a staff attorney with McGlinchey Stafford, PLLC; as general counsel for the Orleans Parish School Board; and as an attorney in private practice.[3]

Woods filed to run for a seat on the Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal in 2016.[4] She faced Judge Laurie A. White on November 8.

As an unopposed candidate, she was automatically re-elected without appearing on the ballot.

Woods defeated Ellen Hazeur in the October 22 election for the Orleans Parish Judicial District, winning 63.31 percent of the vote.[6][7]
