Campaign themes
2014
Jorgensen's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[14]
Job Creation
- Excerpt: "We need to boost Wisconsin businesses, attract companies from other states, and close the skills gap that's preventing unemployed or underemployed workers from connecting with family-supporting jobs. I've introduced legislation to promote Wisconsin manufacturers around the world and within our state. I've pushed for common-sense proposals to require the state purchase American- and Wisconsin-made products and services. I support investments in our technical colleges that would eliminate wait lists for in-demand career training."
Tax Fairness
- Excerpt: " After boasting of a "surplus," Governor Walker and legislative Republicans have now positioned Wisconsin to face another budget deficit. Before they slash education funding again, I think it's important we stop giving huge tax breaks to corporations and the wealthiest among us. They should pay their fair share, just like you and me."
Education
- Excerpt: " I have introduced a number of alternative plans that would restore and preserve K-12 school funding, and I will continue to work to see education aid increased."
Saving SeniorCare
- Excerpt: " When Governor Walker proposed the elimination of SeniorCare as we know it, I was the first and loudest voice of protest. Almost immediately, I launched a "Save SeniorCare" petition drive, inviting my colleagues and senior advocacy groups from across the state to join me in the effort. Alongside my fellow Democrats, I collected more than 14,000 signatures and drummed up media attention and public support for the popular, low-cost prescription drug program. Just minutes after I presented our SeniorCare petition sheets in to Governor Walker and Republican leaders, they announced they would reverse the original plan, and keep the program intact."
Workers' Rights
- Excerpt: " As a former UAW-95 member, I understand collective bargaining is simply a way to work things out. It gives both employees and employers a voice in the workplace. Both sides can express their thoughts, concerns, and ideas over topics like safety, workplace conditions, salary, benefits, and employment terms. We should restore this important communication and workers' rights."
2012
Jorgensen's website highlighted the following campaign themes:
- Access to Affordable Healthcare - "increasing access to affordable health care has been - and is - one of Andy Jorgensen's top priorities."
- Tax Relief for Working Families - "in tight economic times, state government should tighten its belt right along with working families. As the 2007-08 budget was drafted, he was an independent voice for his district, calling for cuts at the agency level."
- Quality Education for All - "parents want the best possible educational opportunities for their kids, at the best possible price. Andy has always supported 2/3rds funding from the state for public schools."
- Creating Economic Opportunities - "federal government must take action to turn the economy around, but he believes the state should address economic issues, too. By maintaining our quality educational system, supporting job training programs, and keeping the quality of life high, our leaders - like Andy - can ensure Wisconsin is an attractive place to open and grow a business."

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
