- We need TABOR reform. Our housing and groceries get more expensive every year, while our incomes have stagnated. Since TABOR was passed in the 90s, Colorado has consistently invested less than other states in our education system. In response to federal disinvestment in our state, we have cut Coloradans from Medicaid and SNAP because TABOR does not allow us to quickly adapt to emergency situations. We need to reform TABOR to reduce our reliance on private, corporate interests and on the Trump administration. Our tax dollars should be used to bolster our social safety net, invest in education, and enable local, small businesses vital to Colorado's culture. I will fight to reform TABOR and invest in Colorado.
- We need to Trump-proof Colorado. ICE is kidnapping our neighbors off the street, entering schools and religious institutions without warrants and deporting Coloradans without due process, all while the federal government withholds congressionally appropriated funds. We must enshrine our fourth amendment rights requiring judicial warrants to enter private spaces and regulate law enforcement’s ability to contract companies like Flock and Palantir, which is turning our back yards into surveillance states. We must also make clear that local law enforcement, at the state and city level, work for Colorado, not for Trump. Finally, we must use state funds to boost Colorado's social safety nets, lowering our reliance on federal funding.
- We need data protection and privacy laws. Corporations in Colorado are not required to let you delete your accounts or erase your data. That means they can hold onto and sell that data to other corporations and law enforcement. Corporations use that data to charge you more at the grocery store and ICE can buy that data to racially profile our neighbors. We must regulate the use of personal data. We need a simple path for deleting data and restrictions on law enforcement's ability to buy information that would otherwise require a warrant—for citizens and non citizens alike. As your representative, I will make very clear that Coloradans are not for sale.
